Adad syrup is a combination of two valuable natural herbs. It is a unique combination of Bael (Aegle marmelos) fruit and Connessi (Holarrhena antidysenterica) bark, which is highly effective in diarrhea, dysentery (Amoebic & Bacillary dysentery), giardiasis and helminthiasis. Adad relieves drug induced gastrointestinal troubles. Adad acts against various pathogenic microbes such as bacteria like Shigella sp., Escheriachia coli, Salmonella sp., etc. parasites like Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia and some worms like Ascaris lumbricoides, Ancylostoma duodenale, Taenia solium etc. Adad is well tolerated & safe for both children & adults. Aegle marmelos (Bael) Bael is a plant. The unripe fruit, root, leaf, and branch are used to make medicine. People use bael for constipation and diarrhea. Bael contains chemicals called tannins, which help treat diarrhea by reducing swelling (inflammation). The unripe fruit is also a common remedy for diarrhoea and dysentery, inhibiting intestinal motility and having also documented gastroprotective effects, in spite the studies performed to prove this property were done only in rats. http://www.herbcyclopedia.com/item/aegle-marmelos-quince-2 Mazumder et al. performed in vitro and in vivo antidiarrheal potential of chloroform extract of the root of A. marmelos. In vitro study was found that the extract was comparable to that of ciprofloxacin and mostly active against the strains of Vibrio cholerae, followed by Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Shigella spp. Also it was found that methanol extract of the fruits of A. marmelos decreased the intestinal propulsion in rats. The unripe fruit pulp of A. marmelos affected the bacterial colonization to gut epithelium and production and action of certain enterotoxins. These suggest the varied possible modes of action of A. marmelos in infectious forms of diarrhoea thereby validating its mention in the ancient Indian texts and continued use by local communities for the treatment of diarrhoeal diseases. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4027346/ Holarrhena antidysenterica Root and barkused in amoebic dysentery. Barkastringent, anthelmintic, amoebicidal, diuretic. Used in colic, dyspepsia, piles, diseases of the skin and spleen. Seedantibilious. Used for promoting conception, also for toning up vaginal tissues after delivery. The alkaloid conessine is used as a therapeutic drug for the treatment of dysentery and helminthic disorders. Conessine and conimine inhibited the growth of Shigella sonnei, S. flexneri and Salmonella enteritidis strains in vitro. In chronic amoebiasis, Bi-iodide compound of total alkaloids, given orally, compare favorably with emetine Bi-iodide. The plant possesses potent immunostimulant property.
