Antico is a unique combination of valuable medicinal plants for all types of cough and cold. The major ingredients of Antico are Vasaka (Adhatoda vasica) and Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra). Vasaka contains vasicine, which has expectorant, bronchodilator, antitussive, mucolytic and anti-allergic properties. Antico is a safe and an effective, well tolerated and non-sedative for both adults and children. Adhatoda vasica The leaves, roots and flowers of Adhatoda vasica also called vasa or vasaka were used extensively in traditional Indian medicine for thousands of years to treat respiratory disorders such as asthma. Adhatoda vasica is considered useful in treating bronchitis, tuberculosis and other lung and bronchiole disorders. http://www.herbal-supplement-resource.com/adhatoda-vasica.html Glycyrrhiza glabra Licorice eases congestion and coughing by helping to loosen and thin mucus in airways; this makes a cough more "productive," bringing up phlegm and other mucus bits. Licorice also helps to relax bronchial spasms. The herb also soothes soreness in the throat and fights viruses that cause respiratory illnesses and an overproduction of mucus, such as irritating coughs, asthma and chest infections. http://www.herbwisdom.com/herb-licorice-root.html Althaea officinalis Marshmallow is most commonly used to ease sore throats and dry coughs. The Marshmallow plant, especially the leaves and roots, contains polysaccharides that have antitussive, mucilaginous, and antibacterial properties. Because of this, marshmallow has a soothing effect on inflamed membranes in the mouth and throat when ingested orally, specifically a sore throat. The antitussive properties help reduce dry coughing and prevent further irritation. http://www.herbwisdom.com/herb-marshmallow.html Malva sylvestris Its especially rich in mucus substances and the flowers of this subspecies are therefore used extensively in herbal medicine. The leaves and flower buds contain mucus, tannins, flavonoids, essential oil, vitamin C and other substances. The anthocyanin glycoside malvin, a naturally occurring chemical, is only found in the flowers. http://www.herbal-supplement-resource.com/common-mallow.html Nymphaea nouchali Flowers are astringent, cardiotonic and refrigerant; alleviative of cough, bile, vomiting, giddiness, worms and burning of the skin. http://www.mpbd.info/plants/nymphaea-nouchali.php Centella asiatica Centella asiatica cures cold, cough, asthma and hoarseness of voice. http://www.homeremediess.com/centella-asiatica-medicinal-uses-and-pictures/ Cydonia oblonga The medicinal uses of quinces may include: The fruit may be used in the treatment of ulcers, coughs and digestive problems.
